Applications are open for the Vital Impacts Environmental Photography Grant 2025. The grants serve a dual purpose: to provide support and encouragement to visual storytellers embarking on long-term documentary photography projects, and to foster collaboration with local communities dedicated to environmental and wildlife conservation efforts.
This year, Vital Impacts will award one $20,000 grant and six $5,000 grants to support documentary projects that focus on solutions-based environmental narratives. Recipients will have 12 months to develop their projects, with ongoing support from the Vital Impacts team to publish and showcase their work. Additionally, 10 emerging photographers will be selected for an intensive mentorship program to nurture their growth and enhance their craft.
Benefits

- Exhibition and Visibility: Opportunities to publish and showcase work through Vital Impacts’ platforms.
- Fee Waiver: The $25 application fee may be waived for economic hardship or for applicants from developing countries (contact hello@vitalimpacts.org for fee waiver codes).
Eligibility
- Open to established and emerging photographers worldwide.
- Projects must focus on solutions-based environmental narratives and involve collaboration with local communities working to protect the environment and wildlife.
- Applicants must submit a project proposal for a long-term documentary photography project.
- AI-generated images are not accepted.

- Submit your application via the Vital Impacts website by September 16, 2025.

- Pay the $25 application fee (waivers available for economic hardship or developing countries).
- Grant winners and mentorship recipients will be announced in October 2025.
