The University of Pretoria Commonwealth Doctoral Scholarship offers a prestigious opportunity for international students from Commonwealth nations to pursue PhD studies at one of Africa’s leading research-intensive universities. Funded under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan, this program supports up to two candidates annually. - Hold a Master’s degree completed at least two years prior to 2026 enrollment.
- Secure a supervisor at the University of Pretoria and submit a SAQA-evaluated academic qualification.
- Be under 38 years old at the time of application.
- Demonstrate academic excellence, research potential (e.g., publications), and leadership qualities.
Current or former University of Pretoria students are ineligible.Benefits
- Financial Support: R190,000 annually for living costs, accommodation, books, and medical aid (from 2027).
