The organisation runs its activities following a holistic approach with the help of its three –staged management authority. The General Committee (GC) comprised of  21 members takes part in policy making for the organisation sitting at least once in a year while the Executive Committee (EC) consisting of 7 members elected / selected by the GC for two years acts as the supreme policy – making body for the projects and programs of the organisation. It meets at least 4 times in a year. On the other hand, the Executive Office (EO) headed by an Executive Director (ED) involves execution of projects and programs by number of program and administrative staffs, workers and professionals. There are 27 Executive Staffs in the organisation including 11 permanent, 13 Temporary and 03 volunteer staffs.

The ALO is a local voluntary development organization. It’s a project oriented implementing organization. It has been reaching its supports and services to its target beneficiaries through implementing a number of development projects and programs.

 Objectives of the Organization:

  • To develop the socioeconomic condition of the targeted people through organizing them into small groups, capital formation, motivation and non-formal education.
  • To identify the problems and resources of the targeted people and taking steps / initiatives to solve the problems with their own efforts.
  • To make the targeted people skill, conscious, and qualified through arranging training seminar and workshop.
  • To develop the low cast people among different religions of the targeted area.
  • To develop interest and  increase the participation of women in development
  • To eradicate social barriers religious superstitious, injustices, exploitation, deprivation etc.
  • To develop the local environmental situation through social a-forestation and nursery development.
  • To eradicate poverty through applying computer training course.

Background of the project:

Bangladesh is a small south Asian country. She borders India in the west, the north and the East. Myanmar is in the East and the Bay of Bangle in the South. The area of Bangladesh is 1,47,570 square kilometer. In this little land she accommodates an around 16 crore people being one of the world’s most densely populated countries. The majority of the Bangladeshis are peasants. Agriculture is main profession in our country. So it is an agro-based society. But the slum life is completely different from other profession. This slum people work as cart puller, pushers, Rickshaw puller, Drain cleaner and sweeper. Through this tremendous hard work, their daughters enter the school and passed the S.S.C. examination by taking a task. The passing grade of these slum girls are very poor. Because, the survey report says, for the lack of  proper care of  education system, For the lack of proper opportunities.  The slum girls are the most deprived and disadvantaged in the society. They can not do well in the exam. They have to stay in a congested place and sleep in where the opportunity of perseverance is very little. They live beyond the basic human rights and needs. For this reason they can not do well in the exam and with this result, they will not get any good job. The modern world is very advanced. This slum girls are far behind from modern touch and digital touch. Digitally our country is going forward, but the slum girls are going behind from this digital thought. They are still now involved in traditional profession. They think that if they pass at least S.S.C., they will get a employed husband. But it becomes futile after marriage. It runs like before. For this cause, they can not go forward economically and socially. For their economic development, ALO has undertaken this project so that they can create a constructive working field by receiving computer basic education and practical learning.  The organization has taken the necessary steps for this purpose. The main step for them is to make them self dependent, self-earner and make them conscious of their right and fundamental needs of life. Slum girls will involved in various business sector as permanent employee if the slum girls get proper training on computer hardware and Ms Work, Ms Excel, power point and access. So we want them computer learner through 9 months course.

Justification of the project:

In the circumstance of our socio-economic condition where a large number of young educated people including a number of educated slum girls are unskilled on computer knowledge. They cannot contribute to the socio-economic development of themselves for want of skills. Our educational system is based on theoretical courses, not on practical implementation. So, our organization believes in practical.  ALO has seen that an electronics engineer knows nothing about the repairing sector of the electronics devices. They do not bother it, because they think that it is not their duty, it only for the uneducated (or lower educated) persons. Our system makes them idle and undone.

If an engineer, even a diploma engineer, becomes familiar with the practical sector of their related field, they may be small entrepreneurs or be small businessmen. In the same way, when a slum girl passes the S.S.C with any subject,  she does not have practical knowledge.

We may look towards another sector of our education system. The persons, who studied with commerce subjects, they also know nothing about the implementation of their learning. Actually our educational system provokes the students to earn certificates by the formal examinations of our systems. So, the students remain in dark as how to apply their knowledge in the specific field of the service or business sector.

In this context, ALO realizes to provide a concrete and functional and practical study method for the slum girls who have already finished their S.S.C level of education. ALO also realizes that the women’s status and power should be increased by provoking and including them in the stream of socio-economic development process. If the slum girls may engage themselves in the earnings, they will be able to improve their miserable conditions in the society. Because only economic power of the women will provide power and status and make them as complete human being as male of our country. Otherwise, they will be found to remain in the miserable condition in the so called restricted society like us and they will be found to remain as preys of the powerful persons of our society.

Not only that, most of the higher- and mid-ranged educated women of our country keep them away from the income generating activities because of our system and lack of opportunities. Our mass people’s mentalities also support them to do so. Our countrymen face a terrible problem of taking initiatives. It is our common habit. But if anyone takes the proper steps to push and compile the mass people into any development activity, they response towards that rapidly.

So, ALO counts this matter for the proposed project of the S.S.C passed slum girls. ALO also counts another thing that the actual rate of the educated persons in our country faces a stagnated condition for the several long years. Actually this is why the people feel the jobless. And being unskilled they are jobless. This prohibits to increase the rate of skilled persons in our country severely. Not only that for the same reason, the condition of the Slum Girl students is very serious. For this reason, ALO has undertaken this project only for slum girls students who will be given training on computer basic education to be self-dependent and to bring them into the economic field.

Goal:

The goal of the project is to provide skill development training on computer education for the S.S.C. passed and H.S.C. admitted college slum girls’ students.

Objectives:

  • To give training on computer education
  • To make them skilled socially and economically

This project will be implemented by taking the S.S.C. passed and H.S.C. admitted 100 girls who live  in slum of Jessore powrashava of Jessore district.  After submitting the survey report, the recruited staffs, at ALO’s endeavor, will select the beneficiaries  of the project.
