The SEARCA Photo Contest 2025 invites photographers from across Southeast Asia and beyond to visually tell the story of agricultural transformation, innovation, and sustainable rural development. Organized by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), the competition aims to capture how innovation and technology empower farmers, improve livelihoods, and ensure food security in the region. This annual contest provides a platform for storytellers and photographers to showcase the resilience, creativity, and humanity behind agricultural growth and sustainability.
The contest is not only about photography but also about sharing real stories that inspire action and highlight the people and communities behind regional agricultural development. Participants are encouraged to present fresh perspectives on the intersection of agriculture, environment, and technology across Southeast Asia.
Eligibility
The competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers of all nationalities. Participants must be at least 18 years old at the time of submission. Entries are particularly encouraged from individuals residing in SEARCA’s focus countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
Each participant may submit up to three (3) original photos. Images must be authentic, unaltered, and aligned with the year’s theme, reflecting innovation, sustainability, and transformation in agriculture.

Selected photos may also be featured in SEARCA’s publications, exhibitions, and digital campaigns, allowing photographers to reach a global audience and contribute to sustainable development advocacy in Southeast Asia.
How to Apply
Participants must submit their entries online through the official SEARCA Photo Contest portal. Each entry should include:
- The photographer’s complete details
- A title and brief description of the photo (maximum 100 words) explaining how it relates to the theme
Submissions must be in high-resolution JPEG format, with minimal digital enhancement. Each photograph must be the photographer’s original work, not previously published or submitted in other competitions.
