Description
The Jane Street Graduate Research Fellowship is designed to support exceptional PhD students pursuing research in fields such as mathematics, physics, statistics, electrical engineering, and computer science. This competitive fellowship is open to both domestic and international students enrolled at universities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe. Fellows receive financial support and mentorship while gaining exposure to Jane Street’s unique culture of problem-solving, rigorous thinking, and intellectual curiosity. The fellowship is not limited to finance-related research but rather seeks to empower students in a wide spectrum of theoretical and applied areas.
Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled in or starting a PhD program at an eligible institution. The fellowship welcomes candidates from mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, and electrical engineering, as well as adjacent fields with significant overlap. Both domestic and international students are eligible. Students who already hold other fellowships may still apply; in such cases, Jane Street will coordinate funding with the university to ensure compliance with institutional policies. Previous finalists or honorable mentions are also encouraged to reapply.
Benefits
Fellows will receive an annual stipend of $45,000 in addition to tuition coverage for the duration of the fellowship. The program also offers mentorship from Jane Street researchers, networking opportunities, and exposure to a vibrant community of scholars and practitioners. The financial support is designed to allow students to fully dedicate themselves to their research without financial pressure.
