Description
The Ghana-China Media Fellowship 2025, hosted by the Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA), is an 11-week in-person program running from June 7 to August 23, 2025, in Accra, Ghana. This fellowship aims to enhance Ghanaian journalists’ expertise in reporting on Africa-China relations through academic training, practical experiences, and cultural immersion. Participants will engage in Mandarin language classes, expert-led workshops on Sino-African diplomacy, and field visits to Chinese enterprises in Accra. The program fosters nuanced perspectives on economic partnerships, cultural exchange, and geopolitical dynamics, empowering journalists to deliver accurate and balanced media coverage. ACCPA, a leading think tank in Ghana, collaborates with local and international partners to promote informed discourse on Africa-China ties, making this fellowship a pivotal platform for media professionals.
Eligibility
The fellowship is open to Ghanaian media professionals with a focus on international reporting. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Target Audience: Journalists (print, broadcast, digital) and content creators producing analytical pieces on global affairs, particularly China-Africa relations, business, or development.
- Geographic Scope: Ghanaian residents.
- Age Restrictions: No specific age limit, but mid-career professionals are prioritized.
- Skills/Experience: A portfolio showcasing relevant work (articles, broadcasts, or multimedia content). Early-career journalists with strong potential are also encouraged to apply.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English; knowledge of Mandarin is not required.
- Other Criteria: Commitment to the full 11-week program in Accra and a clear motivation to improve Africa-China media coverage.
