The Getty Conservation Guest Scholars Program offers a unique opportunity for distinguished professionals and researchers in cultural heritage conservation to pursue innovative projects at the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles. This prestigious program provides scholars with a three-month residency to focus on their research, free from work-related obligations, while engaging with Getty’s extensive collections, libraries, and intellectual community. Scholars join a vibrant cohort of researchers and participate in collaborative activities, contributing fresh perspectives to the field of conservation.

Eligibility

Applicants must be established professionals or researchers with at least seven years of experience in conservation, historic preservation, heritage science, or related fields. They should have a strong record of publications and contributions to the field. The program is open to individuals of all nationalities, with encouragement for underrepresented groups in cultural heritage conservation. Note that proposals for postdoctoral research or PhD-related work are not eligible. Current Getty staff and their immediate family members are also ineligible.
