Description
The COP30 Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) Reporting Fellowship, organized by Internews’ Earth Journalism Network and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security, empowers journalists to cover the 2025 UN Climate Summit (COP30) in Belém, Brazil. Now in its 18th year, this program equips reporters with training, resources, and access to high-level negotiations, enabling them to produce impactful stories on climate policy for their home audiences. Selected fellows will join a cohort of global journalists, with options for in-person attendance (despite potential shared housing logistics) or virtual participation for Pacific Island reporters.

- No prior COP attendance (self-funded or fellowship-supported).
- Climate reporting experience: Must submit two recent work samples (July 2024–July 2025) focused on climate issues.
- Media affiliation: A signed letter from an editor committing to publish COP30 stories (freelancers eligible with outlet support).
- Language proficiency: Fluent in English (applications and fellowship activities are English-only).
- Virtual fellows: Pacific Island journalists reporting for local audiences (even if based in Australia/NZ).
Benefits
In-Person Fellows:
- Travel & Logistics: Economy flights, shared accommodation, meals, insurance, and visa cost reimbursement.
- Reporting Support: Pre-COP virtual training, daily expert briefings, and mentorship from senior climate journalists.
- Stipend: For incidental expenses.
- Exclusive Access: Interviews with policymakers and networking with global media peers.
Virtual Fellows (Pacific Islands):
- Communications stipend: For stable internet access.
- Remote Resources: Livestreams, curated COP30 materials, and Zoom-based mentorship.
All Fellows:
