Deadline: 21 September 2025.
Description
The AFC Fellowship, a collaboration between Common Purpose and the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), is a high-impact leadership development programme that brings together emerging leaders from Africa, the wider global South, and the global North. Now in its third year, the Fellowship builds on earlier editions and the Climate Challenge Leadership Programme, offering participants a profoundly collaborative and developmental journey aimed at equipping them to address shared climate challenges and other pressing global issues through innovative dialogue and partnership.
Eligibility
The programme welcomes highly motivated, emerging leaders—typically with over five years of professional experience—from a wide range of sectors, backgrounds, and communities across Africa, the global South, and the global North. Candidates should demonstrate leadership potential, a commitment to positive change, interest in environmental issues, proficiency in written and spoken English, and the capacity to commit to the Fellowship’s duration.
Benefits
Participation in the AFC Fellowship offers a range of tangible and intangible advantages. Fellows enhance their ability to lead beyond authority, enabling them to navigate complex challenges that transcend hierarchical boundaries. They develop extensive networks by connecting with diverse peers, contributors, and senior leaders they might not meet otherwise. The programme stretches analytical and creative capacities through innovative approaches, strengthens influencing skills by enabling presentations to senior decision-makers, and encourages generation of fresh, actionable ideas for climate solutions.
How to Apply
To join the AFC Fellowship, applicants must first gain acceptance into the Climate Challenge Leadership Programme. The application deadline is midnight BST on Sunday, 21 September 2025. Two informational webinars are scheduled to help prospective candidates understand the programme: on 3 September 2025 at 11:00 BST and on 9 September 2025 at 14:00 BST, with registration available via the Common Purpose platform. Applications are submitted through the official Common Purpose application page.
