The World Bank / GFDRR Risk Data Fellows Program 2025–2026 invites early-career professionals from fragile, conflict-affected, and climate-vulnerable countries to join a six-month placement as part-time Short-Term Consultants (STCs) with the GFDRR Digital Earth team. Through this hands-on opportunity, fellows collaborate with World Bank operations to create, standardize, and communicate climate and disaster risk data using the innovative Risk Data Library Standard, effectively bridging data gaps and supporting resilience in their home regions.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to early-career professionals such as data scientists, geospatial analysts, or climate and disaster-risk specialists from Fragile and Conflict-Affected (FCV) countries across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Specifically, citizens or residents of Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Iraq, Kosovo, Lebanon, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Zimbabwe are eligible to apply. Selection is based on a mix of technical skills, commitment to supporting local communities, and adaptability.

Benefits

Fellows receive a fully supported six-month placement, working remotely with mission travel to World Bank projects. They receive extensive training, mentorship, and practical experience with Risk Data Library tools and platforms while contributing directly to global climate risk analytics. Exceptional performers may be offered a second six-month contract to continue their impact.
