Applications are open for the CT Climate Journalism Mentoring Program 2025. Are you a journalist from Argentina, Brazil, or Mexico with a passion for covering the climate crisis? Climate Tracker is excited to announce the seventh cycle of its Climate Journalism Mentoring Program, designed to empower journalists to tell impactful stories about the energy transition and climate change in Latin America.
This unique program, running from September to November 2025, offers a dynamic opportunity to hone your skills, connect with experts, and amplify your voice on critical environmental issues. With the G20 summit on the horizon, this cycle focuses on producing high-impact stories that highlight the region’s climate challenges and solutions.
Program Overview
Participants will engage in a three-month mentorship program that includes:
- Live Conversations: Join a 60-minute live discussion with local leaders and former fellows to explore energy transition and climate change in your country. These sessions are scheduled for:
- Argentina: September 8, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. (local time)
- Brazil: September 10, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. (local time)
- Mexico: September 12, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. (local time)
- Story Pitch Challenge: After the live conversation, submit a pitch for a journalistic story to be developed during the program. The Climate Tracker team will select two proposals per country, forming a cohort of six journalists.
- Mentorship and Training: From September to November 2025, selected journalists will receive:
- A total financial incentive of $900 ($300 per published story).
- Group training sessions on energy transition, climate crisis, and environmental journalism.
- Personalized editorial support and tutoring to create high-quality journalistic work.
- Networking opportunities to expand your professional portfolio through Climate Tracker’s regional media network.
Eligibility
To apply, you must:
- Be a journalist based in Argentina, Brazil, or Mexico.
- Have a strong interest in covering climate change and energy transition.
- Be available to attend the live conversation and commit to the program’s timeline (September–November 2025).
- Submit a pitch for an original story as part of the application process.
